Media Markt? Da war ich heute auch, keine Spur von Close up...
Wo warst du, in der Region von Zürich?

In welchem warst du denn? Ich war in Dietlikon, dort hatten sie die Box etwa 6 mal im Regal stehen.

So, heute lag die Box auch bei mir im Briefkasten
Hier mein Fazit: Liedauswahl: Booklet: (obwohl die verwendeten Bilder größtenteils schon bekannt sind) und jetzt der Sound:

<span style='color:red'>CD1: Unreleased Stereo Masters from the 50's</span>

Höhepunkte sind auf jeden Fall: Die beiden Versionen von Loving You (bei Take 5 verpasst Elvis m.E. um eine Nuance seinen Einsatz, aber was soll's); die first movie Version von Treat Me Nice ist mein Spitzenreiter, tolles Arrangement, einfach genial; die second movie Version ist ebenfalls hörenswert.
Jailhouse Rock ist klasse, was soll man sonst dazu sagen!? Young and Beautiful steckt zum Mitlachen an (Elvis lacht wohl über seine übertrieben reingelegte Sentimentalität beim Vortrag des Songs?!)
Elvis' Piano Version von Don't Leave Me Now: Da hat er sich, meine ich, nicht überanstrengt. Mit anderen Worten: die Version ist nicht der Brüller.

<span style='color:red'>CD2: Unrealesed Movie Gems</span>

Ein Hörerlebnis war für mich Wild in the Country, wenn auch nur der erste Take. Völlig anderes Arrangement. Die Version von Pocketful of Rainbows klingt sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig. Das hat Elvis schon mal gefühlvoller vorgetragen, also nícht unbedingt mein Fall. Bei Almost Always True sind gelungene Änderungen im Saxophonarrangement enthalten.

<span style='color:red'>CD3: The Magic of Nashville</span>

Einmaliges Sounderlebnis wie bei den anderen drei CD's. Höhepunkte für mich: It feels so right, Surrender, His Latest Flame und Singing Tree.

<span style='color:red'>CD4: Live in Texas 1972</span>

Das Konzert liegt bei mir gerade im CD-Player. Jedoch komme ich mir gerade so vor, als würde ich live drinsitzen. Ein Wahnsinnssound, die Stimmung des Publikums kommt sehr gut rüber
Elvis stimmlich absolut perfekt, soweit ich bisher vernehmen konnte. Schon bei See See Rider brodelt es hörbar in der Menge der Zuschauer.

Also, was schreibe ich überhaupt so viel. Hört es euch selber an. Ich finde die CD-Box auf alle Fälle: <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:red'>Spitze </span></span>

Allerspätestens morgen wird auch diesem feinen Review die ihm gebührende Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt! Ich schenkte sie bereits jetzt schon und mit mir unser stummer Freund Obi-Wan. Danke!

Just curious how you know these discs are mastered using the DSD-process? It can't be just because they are mastered at Sony NY, because that studio probably will have a non-DSD mixing console left. I just wondered because BMG (officially) supports DVD-A (sadly).

Because for such a relatively small country Elvis-sales are much higher compared to the US.

Great Box-Set! There's a very good sound! Clesr and bright.
I love the 1st CD with the binaural recordings. But also the other three CD's are very good. Just love the whole Box-Set! Well done, Ernst!

This is by far the best boxset ever released by BMG and I like it for it`s content and for it`s sound, my favorite right on. Finally Ernst & Co. have learned a lot, at least if they can´t make it right (BMG), they found some one who can (Sony). This will be a classic one and will get rave reviews.
Always said and always will, quality sales! By the way, it would not be me, if I don`t have something to complain about ( constructive ). It would have been easy and not too expensive for BMG and the Fans to release this praised Boxset on SACD - Hybrid , it would have been made perfect sense since they used Sony`s DSD -Technology for the remastering process. Why not pleasing the conserative and more innovative Fans at the same time?. Hybride CD`s can be played on any CD, DVD or Multiplayer. With it, I´m sure we had gotten perfect sound for the first time! Keep on doing such a fantastic job and don`t bother the Fans with releases like "Dragonheart" ( A slap in the face) in the future.

This is GREAT!!! Much, much better sound quality than TT&F, wich was a disappointment to me. Anyway, disc 1 is not very special in my opinion, the stereo (is binaural stereo these days?) masters aren't as good as the mono ones...listen to Young and Beautifull for example. However, disc 2 is really surprising...the soundquality is bizarre! Flaming Star (with horse Rhythm), Wilde In The Country (total different arragement) and even Ku-u-i-po are highlights. Disc 3 is the same of what we know from many other releases, but still great! Disc 4 is the highlight of the box...this soundquallity is simply fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

For those of us who have all (import and official): disc 1 is GREAT. disc 2 & 3 do not hold many surprises (to put it kindly) and disc 4 is GREAT again!....

Bought it today and I have one word for it--> SUPER!! The Magic of Nashville and the live cd of the San Antonio Concert in 1972 are my favourites right now! For those of you who don't know this concert and do have the film "Elvis On Tour" where footage of this concert has been used in, this is the complete concert. The 2001 intro is so clear of sound!
Anyway, discover this box for yourselves, but let's keep these productions coming in the future!!!!!!!

Also ich habe die Box schon seit Montag. Bei Media Markt gekauft für 57 Euro. Und ich finde sie einfach genial!

Für den Sound scheinen sie auch DSD-Technologie verwendet zu haben. Er ist jedenfalls um Längen besser, als auf der TT&F!

Wirklich eine Wahnsinnsbox!!!
