Ankündigung des Verlages:
"Judy Palmer's book "My Treasured Memories of Elvis", is available to order now. We have published 168 photos total, nearly all of them of Elvis, in 112 full color pages. The book is 8 by 10 in size, hard bound cover.
Cover design by Betty Harper. The front cover photo and the title page photo were taken during Elvis Las Vegas engagement, September 1972. Elvis wore a blue suit with silver designs.
Judy considers her photographs of this engagement to be her best work. She had learned to take concert photos in available light to avoid the limitations of flash photography. These same photos were sought after by fans. For a few years Judy sold copies of her work. Judy attended shows in 10 of his 14 Las Vegas engagements, and shows in Portland, Seattle and her hometown, Spokane from 1969 to 1976.
Among her highlights are: candid photos of Elvis when Lisa Marie was born, in Memphis, and at his Los Angeles home when Elvis received his first Stutz Bearcat car in 1970. Seattle, November 1970. Elvis wore the white fringe jumpsuit with green macrame belt, which is also seen on the film, "Elvis That's The Way It Is." Spokane, April 1973.
Elvis was in a white suit with red studs. In her hometown, Elvis paid a little more attention to her, in one image he seems to sing directly into her camera lens. Seattle, April 1973. Elvis wore the same suit as he did in Las Vegas, September 1972 along with a cape. In the evening show he wore a white, studded suit, with a cape. Las Vegas, September 1973. white Target suit with blue jewels. Las Vegas, September 1974 at Tom Jones' show. Judy photographed Elvis in the audience being introduced by Tom, and this image is the back cover of her book. She then photographed him on stage clowning with Tom's band.-"

Diskutiert diesen Artikel im Forum (0 Antworten).Bei Simon & Schuster (wo man das Kapitel 11 "In The King´s Court" schon mal lesen kann) erscheint am 09.06.2009 die 336 Seiten starke Autobiographie von Jerry Leiber und Mike Stoller, welche u. a. die Songs "Hound Dog", "Jailhouse Rock", "Treat Me Nice", "King Creole" und "Bossa Nova Baby" für Elvis komponiert haben.
Ankündigung des Verlages:
"In 1950 a couple of rhythm and blues-loving teenagers named Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller met for the first time. Leiber was looking for someone to help compose music for lyrics he'd written, and a friend recommended a piano player named Mike Stoller. They discovered their mutual affection for R&B, and, as Jerry and Mike put it in this fascinating autobiography, it was the beginning of an argument that has been going on for more than fifty years with no resolution in sight.
Leiber and Stoller had their first success with a song called "Hard Times" that became an R&B hit in 1952. They followed it with the classic song "Kansas City," and then another bluesy composition, "Hound Dog," for the inimitable Big Mama Thornton. They were still in their teens and working with some of the pioneers of rock and roll. A few years later "Hound Dog" would become a #1 record for Elvis Presley, and Jerry and Mike became the King's favorite songwriters. They wrote such early Elvis hits as "Jailhouse Rock," "Treat Me Nice," and "You're So Square (Baby I Don't Care)." Their affection for Elvis was mutual, but Elvis's manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker, didn't appreciate Jerry and Mike's independent ways and ended the relationship.
Leiber and Stoller had a string of hits with the Coasters, including "Yakety Yak," "Poison Ivy," and "Charlie Brown." They infused their songs with wit and playfulness. They had founded their own music label, which led them to an arrangement with Atlantic Records, where they wrote hits for the Drifters and Ben E. King, including "On Broadway" (with Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil) and "Stand by Me" (with King). Their productions for the Drifters brought new instrumentation and musical sophistication to rock music.
Not yet in their thirties, Leiber and Stoller became part of the Brill Building scene in the early 1960s. Their Red Bird label produced and recorded some of the most successful girl groups of the era. Along the way they mentored an ambitious young writer-producer named Phil Spector and influenced musician Burt Bacharach.
In a completely different genre, Leiber and Stoller wrote and produced "Is That All There Is?" for Peggy Lee. They also created the smash musical Smokey Joe's Café, which premiered in 1995 and became the longest-running musical revue in Broadway history. With the assistance of David Ritz, they describe what it was like when Elvis was a fresh new face and when two young guys with tons of talent and an insatiable love of good old American R&B could create the soundtrack for a generation -- and have a great time doing it."

"Elvis: Like Any Soldier - Special 50th Anniversary Edition" ist die Neuauflage des 1988 erschienen Buches von Jerry Osborne, welches mit folgenden Worten angekündigt wird:
"In 1988, we first published "Elvis: Like Any Other Soldier," There, for the first time ever, Elvis fans enjoyed the text and many exclusive photos in an exact reprint of Elvis' original basic training class yearbook: "2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas 2nd Medium Tank Battalion." A soldier's souvenir of time spent at Fort Hood. This very rare publication is quite similar to a high school yearbook.
The total print run 20 years ago sold out quickly, but to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Elvis' army years (1958-'60) we're publishing a completely revised edition. Contains loads of fabulous new photos not in the 1988 printing, most of which are previously unpublished! Also features 12 full pages of gorgeous color Elvis shots.
Besides the photos, we included the text or transcript of every interview, letter, and other authentic piece of correspondence from or by Elvis, from March 24, 1958 to March 7, 1960 (excerpted from "Elvis, Word for Word").
Since the book is still in production, we do not yet know the total page count, which means we have yet to determine the cover price. For updates on these things, as well as to place an advance order (your card will not be charged until order is ready to ship), contact our office, or return periodically to this page to check status.
