Als das Buch "Bootleg Elvis" 2012 erschien, war es schnell ausverkauft und wurde zu einem sofortigen Favoriten von Sammlern auf der ganzen Welt, die es meist die "Bootleg-Bibel" nannten. Seitdem wurden weitere seltene Bootleg-Titel entdeckt, ganz zu schweigen von vielen unerwarteten Variationen einiger klassischer Alben. Es schien also Zeit für einen neuen und aktualisierten Blick auf die Bootleg-Welt.
Während "Bootleg Elvis" sich bei der Erzählung der Geschichte hauptsächlich auf Texte stützte, konzentriert sich "From Cover To Vinyl – The Artistry Of Elvis Bootlegs" auf Fotos. Anhand des Klassikers 2012 haben sich die Produzenten entschieden, Scans von jedem Cover, Label, Vinylstück und der eventuellen Beilage zu erstellen. Dadurch ist es einfach, jede einzelne Pressung und Variation zu identifizieren.
Sie beschlossen auch, das ursprüngliche Buch in zwei Bände aufzuteilen. Im ersten Schritt wird unter dem Titeel "Seven + Ten Inch From Cover To Vinyl" jede bekannte 7" und 10" Bootleg auf über 300 Seiten mit mehr als 1.600 Farbbildern, Querverweisen zu "Bootleg Elvis" und insgesamt rund 400 Titeln präsentiert.
Das Buch ist auf 750 Stück limitiert und wird - so die Ankündigung - nicht neu aufgelegt!
Der zweite Band wird alle 12" Veröffentlichungen abdecken und ist für den Sommer 2019 geplant.
