Casual Love Affair Acetate

Hallo,
ich habe in einigen älteren Elvis Büchern bzw Discographien gelesen, das Elvis 2te Acetate Aufnahme CASUAL Love Affair / I'll never stand in your way ist bzw war. Nun gibt aber Ernst Jorgensen + BMG an, das die 2te Acetate Aufnahme von Elvis: I'll never stand in your way / It wouldn't be the same without you IST bzw WAR. Ich erinerre mich in den MITTE 80ern im ARD oder ZDF Videotext gelesen zu haben, das auf einer Auktion in den USA, wahrscheinlich war es Vegas die ORIGINAL Acetate Platte Casual Love Affair / I'll never stand in your way VERKAUFT wurde. Ich glaube mich zu erinerrn das es ca. $ 40000.- US Dollar waren.
Als ich das damals las, glaubte ich mich bestättigt in der Annahme das Casual Love Affair EXISTIERT, und ein Sammler diese Rarität besitzt.
Was meint ihr, EXISTIERT Casual Love Affair?? Hat es dieser Sammler in den USA auf der Auktion ersteigert und ist sie immer noch in seinem Privatbesitz?

"Casual Love Affair" geisterte in der Tat jahrelang durch die Literatur, bis auf einmal (auf der Sunrise?) dieses "It Wouldn't Be The Same" auftauchte.

In Lee Cotten's Buch "All Shook Up - Elvis Day By Day" wird auch noch "Casual Love Affair" erwähnt, und zwar, daß Elvis es am 4.1.1954 für 3,98 Dollar (zzgl. MWSt.) eingespielt habe.

Da kann wahrscheinlich nur Ernst helfen.... kann den nicht mal einer kurz anrufen?

Weiß nur das ich das gelesen habe, und das das Acetate Casual Love Affair auf einer Auktion ersteigert wurde.

Na "Casual Love Affair". Das war ein großes "L" und keine Anspielung darauf, daß Elvis CIA-Agent war.

On page 133 of Sean O'Neal's "Elvis Presley Memorabilia" is a June 9, 1954 receipt for a two-sided acetate from the "Memphis Recording Service." The caption claims it's possibly for "That's All Right Mamma / Blue Moon of Kentucky", but that's impossible because Presley didn't cut the tunes until a month later. Looking closely at this June, 1954 two-sided acetate receipt, it is clear Elvis cut two sides (master 0914-A and 0914- on Saturday, 6/5, and picked up his acetate dub on Wednesday, 6/9. This documentation is likely for a song like, perhaps, Casual Love Affair. Especially if combining the receipt with Sean O'Neal's revealing interview with www.epgold.com . "Elvis Presley Memorabilia" is available on Sean O'Neal's www.elvispresleyblvd.com .
The flipside is likely another slow country ballad with just Elvis on guitar, i.e. not Without You since Elvis paid for the acetate.

In the book it says it's possibly for That's Alright Mamma and Blue Moon of Kentucky, but that's alright was recorded a month later and one extra reason I don't believe it is for that session is that I just couldn't see Sam charging Elvis or making a receipt for that's all right when it was quite clear Sam was going to use Elvis as one of his artists probably before the end of the day.

Could it be for the casual love affair session? I feel this is most likely but perhaps a lot will depend on what the actual b side to casual love affair? (Possibly on the new found Sean O Neal acetate as mentioned in the interview Andylon did on this site) actually is as this may give some answers?

I now have doubts that the b side is without you due to the fact that Elvis was charged for the acetate.
...well it would seem a bit mean for Sam to charge Elvis for an acetate from tryout session on without you for Sam?
perhaps there was another session for the without you tryout a little later...June 26th?

conclusion...I personally don't think without you will be the b side to casual love affair and there is another session for without you that possibly never made it to acetate?...(could it be on tape somewhere?)and I would guess that the receipt pictured is for casual love affair and an unknown track at this moment in time (possibly tomorrow night, rag mop, keep them cold icy fingers off of me, old shep or?)....what do you think?

I think you’re right. The receipt is most probably for Casual Love Affair. Maybe Sean O´Neal could contact Sam Philips someday. He should know. Until then we can only guess for what it is. The Sun era is not well documented. A lot of questions remain unanswered. I’m sorry that I can’t tell you more about it."
