Single Withdrawn, but ... !!!

"The rumour that the latest Elvis Single "A Little Less Conversation" will be withdrawn is true. But the mentioned reason is wrong. It is not that the Record Company wants to have another No.1 Hit by another artists.

I called Ernst Jorgensen but he has no information about the single to be withdrawn.

Charly Stanford, from the headquarter of BMG UK Popmusic confirmed by telephone to me that they produced more than they actually can sell. Now they decided to stop their pressing machines having that many singles in the can that Elvis could easily sell three or four more weeks in the UK.

A Little Less Converson Rumour USA

In Europe 200.000 CD Singles were pressed and shipped to USA. The single entered the Billboard Top 100 at No.50 with 40.000 sold copies. So they have about 160.000 left for sale in the next weeks.

I called Ernst Jorgensen but he has no information about the single to be withdrawn.

So there is actually the rumour, that BMG New York wants to withdraw the single in the first week of its release. To find out if this is really true I will call BMG N.Y. on Monday and stay tuned cause I will publish the news right here when I have them.

The Original Single (47-9610) was released with the A-Side - A Little Less Conversation and with the B-Side - Almost In Love.

The A - Side made it up to No.69 / the B - Side up to No.95 in the Billboard Top 100 respectively.

Ist eigentlich genau das, was ich anfangs schon angenommen hatte: Aus einer ganz normalen Nachricht, die es normalerweise gar nicht wert ist, erwähnt zu werden und die lediglich besagt, dass zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt die Produktion/Pressung der Scheibe eingestellt wird, weil genug produziert wurde, wird kurzerhand (von wem auch immer) eine Sensationsmeldung aufgebauscht.
Wäre auch an sich nicht weiter schlimm. "Schlimm" finde ich, dass sofort etliche auf diesen Zug aufspringen und Panik machen und sofort auf die Plattenfirma losschimpfen.
Man bedenke: Selbst wenn alle Vorräte aufgebraucht sind, steht es BMG immer noch frei eine neue Auflage zu produzieren.
