"Elvis fans and poetry lovers alike will treasure this collection of thirty-seven poems by poets ranging from national award-winners and college professors to unpublished writers, all addressing the phenomenon of Elvis Presley.
Each poem portrays some aspect of Elvis’ life, his achievements, and how he affected everyone with whom he came in contact, touching their hearts with his magnificent voice, good looks, and irresistible personality. The reader will find poems of every mood, ranging from wildly humorous to reverently mournful. Overall the book is as upbeat as its cover, which features Elvis at his prime in the ’68 Singer TV Special, smiling, wearing a black leather jacket, and playing the guitar. It will make a welcome addition to your collection of Elvis lore."

"There's not much that Elvis didn't achieve, but until this year, he'd never landed on an Oxford American CD. The cut? A six-minute live version of 'Suspicious Minds'; made just days before the song hit the airwaves and record bins. You'll probably love this performance since there's nothing Las Vegas-schlocky about it; both Elvis and his band sound insanely red-hot. As Alan Light, former editor of SPIN, VIBE, and TRACKS, says in his perceptive companion piece, on this track 'Elvis sang like a man with something to prove.'
Darüber hinaus sind noch folgende Interpreten auf der CD:
Nat King Cole, Buddy Holly, Loretta Lynn, Ray Charles, Dale Hawkins, Al Green, Erma Franklin, Howard Tate, Lightnin' Hopkins, Jim Ford, Zora Neale Hurston, Bessie Smith, Joe Tex, Moondog, Sammi Smith, Blind Willie McTell, The Wilburn Brothers, Red Allen, Johnny Winter, The Pilgrim Travelers, Johnnie Lee Wills, Blind Tom, Bubble Puppy, The DeZurik Sisters, Ricky Skaggs, Helen Humes, Erykah Badu und Cowboy Jack Clement.
