Damals war die ‘Louisiana Hayride’-Show Samstag abends im Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana der Ort für Fans der Country Music. Für nur 60 Cents (Erwachsene, Kinder zahlten die Hälfte) bekam man allerbeste nächtlichen Unterhaltung, zu jeder Zeit, an jedem Ort.

Mit der Musik auf dieser Zuammenstellung sitzen Sie in der ersten Reihe wenn Hank Williams auf die Bühne kommt, zunächst als ziemlicher Neuling und später als Superstar in Schwierigkeiten. Elvis Presley jagt Rockabilly durch den Äther, bevor überhaupt nur jemand begriffen hatte, um was für eine Musik es sich handelte. Ein Aufzug lokaler und überregionaler Hit-Lieferanten kämpft untereinander um Zugaben und ermuntert unbekannte Newcomer, die mit ihren Songs und Auftritten an fast jedem Abend das Publikum entzücken.

Erstmals kommt jetzt die gesamte Magie dieser Kultveranstaltung, die von 1948 bis 1960 jede Woche – und danach noch gelegentlich – stattfand, durch erweiterte Ausschnitte der dreistündigen samstäglichen Abendshows voll zur Geltung.
